The AUA Library & Information Centre in an effort to accommodate users with disabilities is equipped with an adaptive technology workstation for people with vision impairments. The workstation equipment consists of:
1. One adaptive technology PC (Microsoft Windows XP Professional)
2. One screen reader that scans the conventional screen and passes its content to the Braille screen, while simultaneously transforming it into speech through the Speech Composer. It also transforms text (at the moment of typing) into speech.
3. Screen Analysis Maximizer which combined with a flexible color transformer results in the improvement of the visual effect.
4. One Braille printer (inside a noise reduction cabin)
5. Software:
SUPERNOVA Dolphin Ε-rhetor (Speech Composer) WinBraille (for converting text into printable Braille)
The Library staff is available at all times to assist any user with disabilities, balancing (somehow) the lack of further special equipment.
