Databases

The AUA Library provides access to a large number of databases. Its collection has been extended thanks to its collaboration with other university libraries and its participation in the consortium Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL-Link). At present it includes bibliographic databases, statistical data and other reference sources.

These databases cover a wide range of topics related to the science of agriculture as well as topics related to mechanics, mathematics, economic and social sciences, biology, medicine, marketing, business administration, etc.

The databases are accessible via the worldwide web and are offered either free to all users or, by controlled access, to the AUA network users.

Remote access to the databases (e.g. from a PC at home) is possible for the Library members via the Virtual Private Network (VPN) service provided by the AUA.

Special seminars are held concerning the use of the databases and the search of bibliography in these databases.

Veterinary, Fishery, Foods (Provided via National Documentation Centre)	Bibliographic	The database consists of: Articles that are published in serials which are issued from N.AG.RE.F.( N.AG.RE.F., Agricultural Research) as well as by other Greek(Geoponic, Veterinary and Development, Geotectonic Scientific Issues) and foreign serials from 1975 to 2000. Abstracts statements from different conferences, meetings and workshops that are related to agricultural research.
NAGREF: Geek Forestry & Natural Environment (Provided via National Documentation Centre)	Bibliographic	The records refer to publications, which were publicised during the period 1925-1995 at several media (books, journals, periodicals etc.) in Greece and abroad.The records cover the following subject areas: Forestry, Biosciences, Environment.
Evonymos Ecological Library Nature and Neohellenic Culture (Provided via National Documentation Centre)	Bibliographic	The Evonymos Ecological Library collection in the database covers mainly the subjects of ecology, environment, nature, traditional agriculture, environmental education, etc. Also subjects of culture, history, social-politics, athletics, archaeology, etc. Currently, 100% of the bibliographic records are in Greek language. Chronological coverage: 1840 - today. The 100 % of records concern magazine articles.
PEHOTEE - Environment, Civic & Landscape Art, New Technology, Energy (Provided via National Documentation Centre)	Bibliographic	The database consists of various material concerning the human action on the following topics: environment, civic and landscape art, ecology, energy, sociology, political science. Chronological Coverage: 1975 - today
FILOTIS	Reference	Database for the natural environment of Greece by the National Technical University (NTUA) of Greece.
EcoLex	Full text	ECOLEX is a database providing the most comprehensive, global source of information on environmental law. ECOLEX is operated jointly by FAO, IUCN and UNEP.
EUR-Lex	Full text	Access to European Union Law.
FAOSTAT	Statistics	FAOSTAT provides time-series and cross sectional data relating to food and agriculture for some 200 countries.
The Greek Vitis Database	Reference	A collection of genetic databases for germplasm management of Vitis resources in Greece. Offers a listing of all genetic resources for Vitis vinifera in Greece as well as searchable databases of genetic identity profiles based on molecular markers. Also an ampelographic database containing over 1,400 pictures. Producer: University of Crete, Department of Biology.
Scitopia (The Scitopia free federated search portal has been discontinued.)	Bibliographic + full text	Search over 3.5 million documents, plus patents and government data.
PhytoProstateutika (Access only via a single computer in the Library)	Reference	Database with the authorised agricultural chemicals, pesticides etc. that are available in Greece.
Acta Horticulturae books (From 2012, there is no access to full text. The complete set of 2011 is available from the Library in print.)	Full text	Full text access to Acta Horticulturae books from 1963 to 2011.
ASABE TECHNICAL LIBRARY (No access due to non renewal of journals subscriptions for 2012.)	Full text	Access to the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers' publications (journals, conference proceedings, books etc.).
MathScinet	Bibliographic + full text	Comprehensive bibliographic database covering the worldwide literature in the field of Mathematics. Producer of the base is the American Mathematical Society (Database guide only in greek).
OCLC FirstSearch	Bibliographic + full text	Access via HEAL Link only to ECO database.
Scopus	Bibliographic + full text	SciVerse Scopus is an abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature and quality web sources.
Web of Science (WoS)	Bibliographic + full text	Bibliographic and citation information in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities. (Database guide only in greek ).
Wilson Web (OmniFile Full Text Mega)	Bibliographic + full text	Multidisciplinary database providing full text articles, with their accompanying indexing and abstracts (coverage from 1994+ ), from Wilson periodical databases. (Database guide only in greek).
